Center School Center for Learning

The Center School Center for Learning was formally launched in September 2023 and serves as an educational hub for parents, guardians, and professionals alike. The Center for Learning provides opportunities for the community to engage, learn, and be informed on a variety of topics related to supporting children and their education.
Some teaching professionals can earn ACT48 credits for attending certain workshops or presentations.

New Year, New You presented by CrossFit Generation and Fitman Fitness - December 6th, 2023.

Presented by nutrition coaches from Crossfit Generation in Horsham and The Fitman Performance and Physique Center in Roslyn, in conjunction with Center School, this hands-on workshop will provide valuable information on nutrition and the brain, how it impacts daily functioning, and how to plan for and create healthy meals for optimal physical and mental performance.
Participants will also learn about meal prepping and budget shopping. They will prepare meals under the guidance of the nutrition coaches. Participants will leave the workshop with the food they have prepared, meal prep containers, and recipes.

Executive Function presentation by Sarah Ward, an internationally recognized expert on executive function - March 5th, 2024.

Sarah Ward is a clinical speech-language pathologist who is internationally renowned and an expert in the field of executive function skills. Her virtual presentation will provide valuable information regarding executive functioning strategies and their impact on learning.

Center School welcomes Dr. Tracey Johnson-Rockmore, Pennsylvania Branch of the International Dyslexia Association Board Member and current Center School parent, and former NFL Detroit Lions player Deon Butler as they discuss the impact dyslexia has had on their professional and personal lives.
Join us for this powerful conversation as they discuss the challenges they overcame and successes they achieved while navigating their childhood and adulthood.

Dyslexia Simulation presented by the Pennsylvania Branch of The International Dyslexia Association (PBIDA) - September 26th, 2024.

Provided by the Pennsylvania Branch of The International Dyslexia Association (PBIDA), this simulation will provide insight into dyslexia and how it feels to be dyslexic.
The simulation begins with a brief discussion of dyslexia including its neurological basis and demographics. Participants will learn about the interventions that are supported by solid research and how they have a positive impact on individuals with dyslexia. Participants then participate in a series of simulated activities that mimic the experiences and processing of those with dyslexia. Date and Time: Thursday, September 26th, 2024 at 6pm.
