Proclamation for Leadership in School Safety

The Montgomery County Commissioners have formally recognized Mindy Wawrzyniak, Head of School at Center School, with a county proclamation in honor of her leadership and the school’s outstanding participation in the 2024–2025 School Safety Engagement Challenge, an initiative led by the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety.

The challenge, launched to promote proactive safety measures across school districts in the county, encouraged schools to engage in monthly activities designed to enhance communication, update emergency procedures, and foster inclusive and connected school communities. Under Mrs. Wawrzyniak’s guidance, Center School achieved the highest participation rate of any private school in Montgomery County.

“Ms. Wawrzyniak and Center School rose to the challenge and went above and beyond to ensure that safety, student connection, and preparedness were prioritized at every level,” the proclamation reads. The recognition highlights Center School’s dedication to cultivating a safe, responsive, and student-centered learning environment.

“This honor reflects not only the commitment of our leadership, but the shared dedication of our entire staff to support our students in every way, academically and physically,” said Wawrzyniak. “It’s a privilege to work with a team that understands the importance of going above and beyond to create a safe and supportive school community.”

The proclamation was presented to Wawrzyniak by Dr. Beth Sanborn and Carli Ducko on Monday July 28, 2025, and was signed by Montgomery County Commissioners Neil Makhija (Chair), Jamila H. Winder (Vice Chair), and Thomas DiBello (Commissioner), and presented in recognition of the school’s continued efforts to lead with integrity and purpose.
