Parent and student visits to Center School can be arranged by calling the Director of Admissions, Carol Wolf, at 215-657-2200 or emailing cwolf@centerschoolpa.org.

Center School places a great deal of importance on ensuring a good fit between the student struggling with language and our learning program. There are considerable variations in the way children learn. Center School’s program is geared towards children who present with academic needs as the primary concern.

The Admissions Director reviews psychoeducational, neurological, and/or speech and language assessments, report cards, and parent interviews to determine if Center School will be able to meet the child's needs. If Center School seems to be an appropriate fit, a visit is required. During the two-day visit, the prospective student is included as a member of a classroom of peers and his/her ability to function academically and socailly in the Center School setting is observed by the teachers.

Following the two-day visit and the Admission's team meeting,  parents are contacted by the Admission's Director.

The evaluation should assess the student in the following areas:

  • Cognitive potential
  • Information processing and learning styles, including visual, auditory, motor, memory, language and attention levels
  • Academic achievement, including reading decoding and comprehension, written expression, writing mechanics, and math concepts and computation
